Local: The Clothesline Children's Consignment

For locals, The Clothesline Women's Sale opens Thursday(today). The Clothesline sales always have a great selection. I volunteered the other night and saw some incredible deals.  Gymboree, Mini-Boden, Land's End, Hannah Anderson, Gap, boutique brands, and more.  You can easily spot the boutique brands as they have a blue ribbon tied at the top.  You can check out the sneak preview album on Facebook.

Penzeys Spices: Free Spice Rub

If you have a Penzeys Spices Store local to you, you can get a free 1/4 cup jar of Penzeys Bicentennial Rub with this coupon on their site. I will be headed to the store in Carytown this week to pick up this fabulous freebie when I pick up the whole allspice I need.  The expiration date on the coupon is 12/31/2010, but don't wait to print this.  It may be gone.

Free Local Events

It's the last Friday night movie at Tom Leonard's Pumpkin Patch.  They have free popcorn, free hayrides, hot chocolate, and warm cider.  Tonight's movie is "It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" and starts at 7p.  Definitely dress warm for this event.  It's about 20 degrees cooler today than yesterday!

Gayton Crossing is also hosting a couple free events this weekend.

If you live close enough to walk to Gayton Crossing, it's probably a good idea.  Saturday's main event includes rides, face painting, moon bounces, games, and more.  Most activities are free as they are sponsored by the businesses at Gayton Crossing.  This is an awesome event for the kids if you haven't been before.

Kidtopia Now Children's Consignment Sale

Kidtopia Now Children's Consignment Sale is a local consigment sale and will be open October 8-9, 2010. The sale will be at the Shops at Willow Lawn (1601 Willow Lawn Drive, Suite 315, Richmond, Va 23230. If you are local, you don't want to miss this sale! There will be lots of fall and winter items as well as toys and gear.

It looks like there is still some room for consignors. Consigning your children's items they no longer need is a great way to make some cash to use for holiday shopping. I will be doing a cash only holiday with the money I have earned reselling at a couple consignment sales.

Kidtopia is also offering a very rare opportunity for consignors:

If you are consigning or have consigned with ANY CONSIGNMENT SALE,
those items can be brought to our sale WITHOUT having to re-tag or re-enter your inventory into our system.

If you already consign with another sale that uses the same consignment program you can transfer your items between sales. To find out how to transfer your inventory, you can email them.

Consignors get to shop before the public. Volunteers can shop even earlier and you don't have to consign in order to volunteer.

Preview Sale is on Thursday October 7, 2010.

Henrico County Summer Reading Programs

Henrico County Libraries launched the Summer Reading Club on June 7. The program runs through August 31, 2010. There are several programs available.

For preschoolers-rising 5th graders can participate in the "Submerge Yourself" program.

Kids get a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A Icedream Cone®Coupon for registering. When 5 books or programs are logged, kids will get a free cool treat. When 10 books or programs are logged, kids will get a Star Reader Decal.

Members are entered into a drawing to win:

Beach Fun Pack
Netbook for Club Finishers

Register for the Summer Reading Club.There are also programs for teens and adults. The rewards for the teen program are the same as the kids program. The adult program has rewards as well including an entry upon completion of the program for a Kindle. I need to register myself!

I registered the kids yesterday and they got their Chic-fil-A coupons. We have already logged 1 book each. Any recommendations for elementary readers?

National Donut Day Friday, June 4

Friday,  June 4, 2010 is National Doughnut Day. Last year, the kids and I went through the drive thru and got our free donuts.  Yum!  We'll be headed there after school this year as well.  Krispy Kreme will give each person one free donut, no purchase necessary. Dunkin' Donuts is offering a free donut with a drink purchase.  For participating locations, check Krispy Kreme and Dunkin' Donuts.  

For locals, Krispy Kreme on West Broad is participating.  For Dunkin' Donuts, you may want to call ahead to the closest of  three area locations to ensure they are participating.
